Down's Heart Group has an online community of worldwide contacts who keep in touch via email messages. Members can elect to receive individual emails, a daily digest or to read messages by going to the online message board. Downright ExcellentDownright Excellent was set up and is run by parents of children with Downs Syndrome living in Islington and Camden. In order to have sufficient numbers to run an effective educational group it is necessary to ignore the London Borough boundaries, hence our group is open to any child in London with Downs Syndrome. Our aim is to help children with Down’s Syndrome in London to develop their life skills so they may reach their full potential as individuals and equally participating members of society.www.downrightexcellent.org
Maths ExtraChildren with Down syndrome may have difficulties with spatial, sensori-motor development, language both expressive and receptive as well as memory, they need time to process information, they learn best through visual concrete experiences. Children as young as 3/4 begin to develop sensori-motor skills; as well as early cognitive growth such as L/R directionality, hand-eye co-ordination, one-to-one correspondence, scanning, judging sizes, spatial development by simply placing blocks and cubes into the boards from continuous repetitive experimentation.www.mathsextra.com
